AIRING OF THE QUILTS
Saturday, April 20, 12 - 5 pm
On the Grounds at Duck Creek

The Arts Center at Duck Creek is thrilled to announce the return of the second annual Airing of Quilts on Saturday, April 20, 2024, (Rain date: Sunday, April 21). This all-day community event welcomes everyone to participate in the celebration!

Join artists and organizers Louise Eastman and Erica-Lynn Huberty at Duck Creek for a joyous celebration of community, creativity, and the arrival of spring! The Airing of the Quilts is a cherished tradition symbolizing the transition from winter to spring. Quilt-making, an age-old practice, fosters creativity, storytelling, and community connection across generations.

This year we will feature a bedspread made by Stella Mae McClure Pollock, crafted from Jackson Pollock’s clothing, courtesy of the Pollock Krasner House and Study Center. We are also honored to display a quilt by one of Gee’s Bend’s renowned quilters, Leola Pettway, generously loaned from the collection of Lyn and E.T. Williams Jr. of Sag Harbor. Preservation Long Island will bring us a community quilt made for their exhibition Democracy Now, and Local historic quilts from The East Hampton Historical Farm Museum will be showcased.
